Kempner Tornado & Hail Storm
A devastating tornado touched down near Kempner on May 1, 2025, causing significant damage to several homes. The tornado was confirmed by multiple storm chasers and occurred around 4:29-4:32 PM CDT.
In addition to the tornado, Kempner experienced severe hail during the storm. MPing reports show hail sizes ranging from 1.0 inch to 4.5 inches, with the largest hail reported at 4:04 PM near Kempner. The same storm system also produced an 82-mph wind gust south of Kempner.
The storm was part of a severe weather outbreak that affected multiple counties in Central Texas. Emergency sirens were activated in the area as the tornado approached.
